Solstice Blessings ❤️
The longest night of the year, inviting stillness, reflection and deep connection with the earth.
From this moment on, the light slowly returns.

After a Sinn Féin MEP criticised Israeli lobbyists in the European Parliament the state of Israel spent thousands seeking to sue her.

Israel tried to take action against Martina Anderson and investigated it with law firm Van Bael and Bellis.

Within the fallen leafy carpet in Lough Boora, I noticed this lichen, like a strange sea creature. This is one of many Pelt lichen species, a new one for me @peatlandecr.bsky.social @irishwildlifetrust.bsky.social @claireissimo.bsky.social @tocharstories.bsky.social @communitywetlands.bsky.social

I mentioned ‘elastic stele’ in my earlier post. Below is definition & video to demonstrate (Video shows it on Bog Stitchwort).
Stele: the central core of the stem containing the vascular system (xylem and phloem).
From the Greek ‘stele’ for pillar.

The Lissava Dolmen • Tipperary

You can find this portal tomb hidden away in Scaragh Wood, close to the town of Cahir in South Tipperary.

Based on excavated examples, it likely dates to the earlier to middle part of the Neolithic period, making it around 5,500 years old.

Lámh Laichtín • The Shrine of St Lachtin's Arm

This remarkable shrine in the shape of a forearm dates to around c.1120.

A hollow in the shrine is believed to have held the arm bone of St. Lachtin, a saint of the 6th century.
