hi, i'm saint! i'm an artist inspired by the decorative and ornamental art of the 1800s, naturalism in painting, and organic designs. i use a wide range of techniques and mediums to make creature-focused art (all handcrafted) and i love to oil paint live at cons!

very unexpected art discovery: I love drawing comics as long as someone else writes the script. Which is weird bc I also love writing! But having a final, tight script from someone else removes decision points and gives me a smaller box to work inside, which makes it a more fun process

its crazy how much decently thick walls / floors helps for apartment living. the apt i live in now was built in 1910s, old brick 6-unit building, and i genuinely only ever hear the neighbors (with a baby + toddler) when both are screaming and im sitting by the thin front door

honestly i feel like we're in a little golden age of m/f romances in genre fiction that are free from heteronormativity. they just get to be people. the bar is in hell but im happy to see authors (almost always women, often queer) step over it.

a professor in my second semester of college recommended me to the writing center, i started working as a peer tutor, discovered i liked explaining concepts and needed a back-up career bc studio art degree wasnt opening any doors.

Session two of portrait workshop. slow but steady - ebouche (sp?) layer of straight paint on top of underpainting. tons of time spent mixing colors to try and get the right one, and then carefully tiling in the specific hue/value/chroma shapes. 2.5 hours of painting = what you see !

i keep chugging away at representational and figurative painting with no real idea of where I'm going, which is a little frustrating. i would love to be able to earn esteem or $ for my work, but i can't ever quite seem to make it happen.
