Session two of portrait workshop. slow but steady - ebouche (sp?) layer of straight paint on top of underpainting. tons of time spent mixing colors to try and get the right one, and then carefully tiling in the specific hue/value/chroma shapes. 2.5 hours of painting = what you see !

one portrait over 5 3-hour sessions with a live model (15 hours on one portrait!!)
first day was the lay in, with thinned down umber, just to capture structure and values

Spent like half of Saturday just gallery meandering in Chelsea, which was so cool, and then today was the Met. just a pressure hose of art right at our faces. kinda overwhelming. walked 16 miles between the two days !!

i now live close enough to Da Big City (NYC) to make it a chill weekend trip, so me and my boy did and it was soooo nice. i saw so many low effort Halloween costumes on party-seeking youths on Saturday night

should the harpies in my late medieval post apocalypse fun little fantasy story have horrible reaching arms and boobs y/n. im kinda on the fence. do the arms make them more monstrous, or more like a typical taur creature?

yall remember those color palette memes from tumblr? yeah in hindsight they were horrible color palettes. no value range at all and bad mix of warm / cool.
anyway did one tonight for old time's sake and to compare to the last time i did it which was *checks notes* jesus christ 2017. my bones.

like this piece. untitled so far - working on that (thinking either "we can only wait" or "each year the same"). looks way better in person vs through a screen, so sharing through a screen feels bad. so I don't!
