I see a lot of bad interactions online with people harassing others with service dogs, so let me tell you an embarrassing story about my #servicedog where people were so kind.
A thread...
Frankenstein's monster has been depicted in SO many ways. Boris Karloff as Frankenstein is perhaps the most iconic, right?

But it's not even close to what Mary Shelley actually described the monster as!

This one got weird, philosophical, then really weird...
It's alive!!!

We cover the important things in this one: how Mary Shelley created a genre, our moral obligations as creators, and why are so many of the monsters hot?

It may feel exhausting to call them but it won’t be as awful as life under that budget. If you haven’t reached out, this is the time.
Jeffries is buying time for us to keep the pressure up. Two reps have flipped, for now—can we get two more? Call your Republican house reps if you have them.
At this point there's reason to think everyone's set, but yeah. No reason to stop calling until the gavel drops.

I saw someone say AI is useful because it generates ideas. My dude, I'm full of ideas. I have docs and docs marked under 'ideas.' I have outlines and fragments of stuff I might work on. Trunked stories galore. Even if I continue to write a novel a year for the next 40 years I won't run out of ideas.

Annihilation is based on a book of the same name which, uncommonly, features several unnamed main characters. It's a pretty bold movie and is so easy to get wrong...

Did this book get it right though?

My dream is absolutely to write a noir (movie or book), and this is SO valuable. What a cool perspective...
The Noir Detective’s Journey: An Adventure in Disguise

In noir, the detective is hired to do a job—usually to find someone or uncover some buried truth—but the story unfolds more like a quest than a casefile.

I keep seeing two big pieces of writing advice: read more widely and read more in your genre.

I guess they're both true but omg...what's the golden ratio here?!

Today is Black Authors Day!

Although we've made a lot of progress in supporting Black writers, they still face discrimination when trying to publish. One of the easiest ways to help is to look up Black authors in your genre and give them a read!

Too easy!!!

Nisha here: So The Colour Out of Space has a few adaptions, but I'm not talking about those. I'm talking about what I would do if I could adapt the story.

Think alien horror. A meteor crashes onto our earth and is picked up to be studied, but what it contains is more than we could imagine...

Some people wonder if service dogs get to just be dogs.

Yes. They absolutely get to just be dogs. But they also love working!
March 19, 2025 at 12:38 AM
The last major adaption was 60 years ago. How would you adapt such a unique short story?

I honestly have no idea what I would do, but I love sticking to source material, so I would try to be faithful.
