It’s cringe to see successful companies that have nothing to do with AI rebrand themselves as “an AI platform” because they think it will somehow help them.

Workday is a HR platform.

Sure, they added AI features like everyone else but it was never “built with AI at the core”

Very insightful and comprehensive thread up and down, but this point is one I keep hammering: an LLM that outputs something false is operating successfully, doing the same work in the same way as it does when it happens to output something that can be evaluated as true.
It’s why the word ‘hallucinations’ in relation to gen AI is misleading. When humans hallucinate, it’s because something’s misfiring in our brains. AI hallucinations are not a mistake. The system is doing exactly what it was intended to do. That’s why they can’t fix it, because it’s not broken. 13/

Seeing more posts like this (and I don’t mean to single out Andrea!)

After enthusiasm thanks to rapid progress —> a few months of increasing pain —> giving up

Turns out having a tool that generates code doesn’t remove the need to know how to program to build complex software…

Jsem zvědavý, kdo první přijde s nápadem, že by řídící systémy jaderných elektráren měly přejít na umělou inteligenci.
A rovnou říkám, že pak řeknu, že jsem vám to říkal. Ať už se stane cokoli.

I've not regretted subscribing to @kagi.com yet. Been months. A much cleaner search experience. On the (very rare occasion) that it doesn't have what I'm looking for, going back to Google is a stark contrast that reminds me why it's worth it.

How it started: "AI vibe coding tools will replace devs!"

How it's going:

"Do this:

- Provide it w a detailed spec
- Break down tasks to small ones
- Separate dev and prod envs
- Do NOT give access to the agent to prod
- Never trust the agent; verify every step it takes

Beautiful.

One more thing that makes remote work less trustworthy: "bait and switch" (the person interviewing is not the one who will be doing the actual work) at scale.

Every one of these schemes brings profits to a small group while destroying broader trust of full-remote work.
You also have people doing this bait and switch...

> How it works:
> * We find the projects
> * You make a quick appearance: Just a couple of client calls to seal the deal, and maybe a quick standup now and then - that's it.
> * We do the work
> * You get paid: We split the profits 50/50

New folks, Bluesky's expected norm is to use alt text, a brief text description of an image. People with low-vision and blind folks use screen readers to hear the text aloud.

Minimal: write a sentence or 2.

Extreme: OCR entire page and proof text for accuracy.

Most of you will be in the middle.
If people don't alt text, to a point it's whatever. I won't reskeet is all. Too many blind friends, and for that matter, I might have missed something myself.

Where I get PISSED is textwalls. Nobody's gonna read that grid of ants on their phone. And the alt is low hanging fruit: just what it says.

Don't forget to follow @ap.brid.gy if someone from Mastodon is trying to talk to you! Until you do, your likes, replies, and reskeets won't sync back to Mastodon where they can actually hear you.
