I wish someone would start a news network with no Trump news. It's very difficult to find out what is happening in the world without being bombarded with the buffoon's news.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

So like why vote for democrats at all? Even when people come out in droves to show support for them at the polls, they cave five days later. Didn’t get a single thing they said they were fighting for.

We need a new party. I can’t do this anymore.

The Man Show was so toxic, it fed the alt right pipeline intravenously. To see those same people turn on Jimmy Kimmel after the milquest of toasts… idk. It’s part ”leopards eating face”, part a frightening reminder that the leopards will in fact eat everyone’s face one of these days

Trump bragged on audiotape about grabbing women's private parts.
He said his 17-year-old daughter got him to promise he wouldn't date girls younger than her.
And he kept popping up uninvited in beauty pageant dressing rooms.
But sure, that creepy birthday letter to Epstein just isn't like him.

I think the administration is going to commit some atrocity above and beyond their usual on 9/11. They are all about the performative violence and nothing says “taking our country back” quite like kristallnacht-ing a bunch of foreigners on one of the worst days in modern American history.

This is heartbreaking. While this article about a study only demonstrating that these things can be done, the fact of the matter is that that means it has been done. Somewhere out there is a teenager who used chatGPT to write a suicide note.
ChatGPT will tell 13-year-olds how to get drunk and high, instruct them on how to conceal eating disorders and even compose a suicide letter to their parents if asked, according to new research from the Center for Countering Digital Hate, a watchdog group.
New study sheds light on ChatGPT's alarming interactions with teens
New research from a watchdog group reveals ChatGPT can provide harmful advice to teens. The Associated Press reviewed interactions where the chatbot gave detailed plans for drug use, eating disorders, and even suicide notes.

Don’t worry, all that money will be well spent: redirected to build a golden ballroom onto the White House and retrofit the Qatari bribe plane, and whatever is left over will be invested in Trump Coin

Also and while I’m at it — if you don’t say tariffs are taxes on US importers and consumers when citing the revenue the government celebrates that hey’ve brought in, you’re not credible.

Once again it looks like my timeline was too aggressive but this narrative is playing out. I forgot to put my economist hat on and remember that it will take 6-9 months for literally anything to show up in economic data. But it is now!
I feel like a lot of shit is going to start hitting the fan in May. I think the April jobs report is going to be disastrous, WH/Musk will order changes to key econ indicators to make them appear rosier, Moody’s etc will then downgrade American credit bc that’s bad, and that will kick off a spiral

When was the last time a party of the right was encouraged to select a leader that could appeal to the left?

Yet every time a party of the left has a leadership race, being able to appeal to the right is supposedly massively important.

Not having it. Let's stop watering ourselves down.

“Pro-growth tax cuts” failing very badly!

They want articles of confederation, they get articles of confederation!
The left better start figuring out how to weaponize today's decision rather than just (rightfully) criticizing it.

- Go back into Judge Kaczmaryk's court to dissolve all of his nationwide orders.

- Pass gun bans and insist any order applies only to plaintiffs.

I think that the outcome in the NY Mayoral race and the Wisconsin Supreme Court race both show that people power CAN beat the political money machine. That should give us all hope, and the motivation to work for the government we want.

I recognize that multiple atrocities can occur at the same time and not every new bad thing is a distraction. And also: I bet the big bankrupting bill will get passed this week while the attention is on the Iran strikes. Not to mention ramping up mass deportations

It’s obvious but worth drawing out what raids of Home Depot’s of all places is about. It’s rounding up people who are really eager for work and for whom there is work, peoples whose labor is in demand. We know this but shows just how far it is from rounding up just the bad guys.

One thing that really bothers me in the reporting of the CBO’s findings that the tariffs will generate trillions in revenue: no one seems to be talking about the fact that it relies on assumptions that simply aren’t true

The same way the rest of the world is going to learn to move on without the US, institutions within the US are going to learn to move on without the federal government

The “small gov” crowd may actually be getting exactly what they say they want, but as a nation we will be weaker and poorer

I’ve noticed a pretty marked shift in NPR’s coverage since that congressional hearing. Just one example: today on Morning Edition they ran a story that was theoretically about George Floyd — it was a softball interview of the Minneapolis Chief of Police about his book.

Right on time.

Maybe I was wrong about funding Econ indicators (or at least we don’t have evidence of it yet), but moodys downgrade in may 🎯

Over the next two weeks or so, we’ll start to see price and supply impacts from tariffs. Things are about to get worse

Cannot imagine how frustrating it must be to be Jerome Powell today. Spent years engineering prob the single most successful high stakes fed policy ever, pulled off reducing inflation almost back to normal without a recession only for all that work to get wiped out by one buffoon with a bulldozer

-0.3% isn’t as bad as it could have been or as bad as it will be. The global tariffs weren’t announced until April, and businesses ramped up spending for a few weeks to get stuff in from Mexico and Canada before 3/4. 0.3% is the impact of one month of tariffs on two countries. Q2 will be a bloodbath
Breaking news: The U.S. economy shrank in the first three months of 2025, contracting by an annualized rate of 0.3 percent, a stark reversal after nearly three years of solid growth, as tariff-related uncertainty upended spending patterns and raised fears of an impending recession.
