Who does that help? What does that show beyond the idea that these people LIKE doing this and they're doing it intentionally?

I begging you not to marry someone you have the least bit of mistrust/contempt for.
A couple friends of mine have spent too long in a marriage filled with loathing, and now both of them feel totally trapped and miserable. It looks awful.
