Shout out to the great @anatomicalcat.bsky.social - the human remains conservator at @surgeonshall.bsky.social in Edinburgh! If you enjoy medical history, she is a good person to follow - her work is endlessly fascinating. I highly recommend her account to you! #histmed #histsci #museums
This plaster écorché figure was part of the exhibition William Hunter and the Anatomy of the Modern Museum in 2018. It likely dates to 1771 with production overseen by Hunter himself, from the corpse of a hanged thief. There’s a removable section in the abdomen to show the organs underneath

Since medsky is now becoming a lot more active on here.

Would anyone be able to recommend some good informative medicine podcasts?
Only one I listen to regularly is the excellent Home of Medicine podcast but want to fill up the space lost by culling my political podcasts!

Alright, let's see what this #PathSky is all about. Gotta start with medical lung of course.

Woman in her 50s with progressive shortness of breath that she first noticed a year ago; underwent wedge biopsies for diagnosis. (& unfortunate tissue wrinkles/folds).

Someone needs to do a Google Maps, but for the past. For example, typing in "London to York" but you can select a period e.g. 1450s, and it would give you the likeliest route. That'd be great.
