Can’t believe the whole country has to suffer through the return of Dickensian childhood diseases because the worst, most ignorant attention-demanders decided other people’s expertise makes them feel bad

A big problem with the “Dems should run more moderates” is that all the current ones suck at doing politics and never achieve good deals for their moderate causes.

Researcher estimates sensitivity of state Munis to Trsy of 0.04 (!), and doesn't wonder about the result - despite literature indicating otherwise. Guess who the author is... #econsky

I think the Dems should stop saying political assassinations are bad until we have good polling on the issue. @mattyglesias.bsky.social

After the Civil War, Union troops occupied the rebel states in an effort to undo their racial hierarchies. At the present moment, federal troops are being deployed in a Union state in an effort to reinstate racial hierarchies.

what people seem to believe is that there is a large number of criminal, layabout immigrants who can be easily found and deported. they support doing so snd are dismayed by the deportation of otherwise law abiding people. the problem is that the criminal group is imaginary!
Wow. New CBS poll finds majority (55%) supports the *general goal* of deportations, but a bigger majority (56%) dislikes how Trump is carrying them out. And 63% want due process.

Again, we need a better discourse around public opinion on immigration, as I've argued:

It’s fun to live in a country where half the taxes we pay go directly to arm people that despise us. Both at the local and federal level.

I’m voting for whoever promises to designate SCOTUS as a terrorist organization so that this jurisprudence applies to them as well.

It is just crazy to think that conservative elites experienced Trump I and decided we needed more of that but without the guardrails.

@schumer.senate.gov If you vote for cloture you are a stain on this country’s history that will never go away. You are willingly passing power to a tyrant in waiting, and you are a disgrace to every oath of office any senator has ever sworn. Your legacy will be one of cowardice and contempt.

How is it possible that our representatives that are gaslighted, berated, and humiliated on a daily basis by their Republican colleagues are less radicalized than the median Dem voter? I don’t get it.
3. Gillibrand is right—Republicans plan on making it very, very painful for Democrats if there is a shutdown, and Gillibrand is now overseeing the DSCC, which means she’s responsible for all the Senate Democratic candidates running in this cycle.

I will not vote to weaken my power to fight for WA state.

I will not vote to turn YOUR taxpayer dollars into Trump & Elon's personal slush funds.

I will vote NO. We should pass my short term CR, avoid a shutdown, and do our jobs.

(1/X) The media spent ten years ignoring Trump's obvious personality disorder. We were told "he's a pragmatist, a businessman".

Now they are doing the same thing with Elon Musk....

last year the NYT had a story about class and college admissions. I posted this graphic about the thing we talk about and the thing we don't even have a name for.

Last night Michelle Obama offered a name! "The affirmative action of generational wealth"
