Ok but obviously Cajun music is more interesting and important
Scoop: CBS News pulled a "60 Minutes" segment that focused on job losses at the Internal Revenue Service hours before it was scheduled to air, replacing it with a feature story on Cajun music.

someone needs to build an AI agent that’s sole purpose is to “retire” misaligned/nefarious AI agents and call it blade runner

In 1927 PSEG, PEC, and PPL interconnected their systems to pool power. This effectively was “interregional” transmission at the time.

The same people fighting transmission today benefit massively from the interconnected system pioneered in the past that is what we know as “the grid” today.

If the anti-RTO crowd is actually concerned with consumer protection, it’d be nice to see them advocate for minimum transparency requirements. The amount of data (both planning and operations) readily available in RTO regions versus traditional regions is stark

Risks…?

The issue is, the even though the data center load growth forecasts can be duplicative, the power industry’s pace of change will still be the limiting factor to new development

Been on a social media break for the best possible reason. Can’t express in words how proud I am.

Both Momma and the boys are doing well thankfully. Their big sister has been a great helper so far and has adjusted well to no longer being the only child!

I’m proud of the hard work our team did to take the Transmission Facilitation Program from legislative text to a powerful tool for transmission deployment that provides real benefits to real people at low risk to taxpayers. This video shows some of those benefits. www.energy.gov/gdo/articles...

People replying to this are acting like all rural areas have grocery stores in the immediate area, so they assume instead of two hours these folks could walk to one or something. For instance we had about an hour round trip to the nearest grocery store, so two hours isn’t much further
I have questions

I see this same issue with a lot of folks on acid rain and the Clean Air Act.

The eternal curse of successfully averting a disaster - people begin to believe it wasn’t an issue in the first place.
DAMMIT NPR.

I spent nine months upgrading over TEN THOUSAND desktops at a F500 client. The grand total was over SEVENTY THOUSAND applications upgraded.

Y2K "didn't live up to the hype" because the industry busted ass to duct tape everything first.

People feared the computer glitch would mean "the end of the world as we know it." Thankfully, Y2K didn't live up to the hype after years and billions of dollars were spent on painstaking preparation.

We need to build more transmission, this is obvious.

But what I think a lot of people overlook is the fact that even if we build more tx, we still need to completely overhaul the interconnection process. The current process does not make any sense for a high renewable penetration grid

basically impossible for me to limit it to four but I’ll try

Modeling is easy.

However, modeling a system well, choosing the right methodology, setting up the inputs, assumptions and scenarios, etc., such that the output is worthwhile (and then interpreting the results correctly) is difficult.

One thing I proposed was to completely buy out the coal industry. For about 36b , you could buy all the coal plants (at a nice profit for owners ), give their customers 5 to 10 yrs to transition and give all employees full pay till retirement.

Take out coal and other paths get simpler
Thoughts?

It's a Wonderful Life gave me unrealistic expectations about the drying time of wet clothes in the middle of winter
Point Break (1991) gave me unrealistic expectations about perfectly predicting 50-year storms
