Running into Albert at Xbox guaranteed you were about to have a fun conversation that would stick with you - whether it was about work or not. We were the Space Battleship Yamato geeks at Xbox and I’ll always miss that.

Fuck cancer.
I'm devastated to hear about the passing of longtime Xbox exec Albert Penello from cancer. He was an incredibly sweet, enthusiastic guy who loved games and loved building consoles at Xbox. Here's an old Unlocked episode with him on the origins of the Xbox One X: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMKq...

I'd go with COSMOS by Carl Sagan.
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

Oregon finally breaks through: After a Uiagalelei strip sack, Jordon Davison punches it in on the next play for the first touchdown of the game.

Oregon leads 13-0.

Fireworks at 5:30PM? Really? I know it’s New Year’s Eve but could you wait until we’ve given the dogs their CBD?

It is very humid in our workshop this time of year but this is ridiculous. Was that roll of filament swimming recently?

(yes, I’ve checked that against other devices and it’s within 5% normally)

Some really good stuff in here. I have (in my giant pile of half-written things) a half-written discussion of the Atmosphere and why it's so important, but it's going to have to wait until next year. In the meantime, Paul's got you covered...
Time for my big year end blogpost about the Atmosphere.

From the personal computing perspective, the cloud has been a disaster — but we shouldn't run away from it.

We can solve a lot of problems by connecting our clouds, turning it into atmospheric computing.
Atmospheric Computing
Cloud computing has been extremely successful, but it lost the values that drove personal computing. We can solve this by evolving forward.

The better to disqualify your ballots and charge you late fees, my dear!
As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.
