This is the playbook of Congressional Republicans.
4. Yglesias instead seems to implicitly argue that politicians should only do what wins elections, virtue be damned. One wonders what he thinks of those foolish 1850s abolitionists. As Condleeza Rice once said, politics is the art of making the impossible inevitable. That ain't this.

Hypothesis: Stellantis is bribing Trump through the America 250 sponsorship and he got the closing line in the Terry Crews commercial inserted: “Did anyone approve this? No, he just does what he wants.”

“that’s how we math.”
FOX: If you cut something by 100%, the cost goes down to 0. If you cut it by 600%, the drug companies are actually paying you

LUTNICK: What he's saying is if a drug was $100 and you bring it down to $13, it's down 7 times

F: Not a 600% cut

L: But it's 700% higher price before. It's down 700% now
December 18, 2025 at 8:12 PM
“34th highest”
Lutnick: "He's going to pick a new Fed governor, a new Fed chairman, and they're gonna bring rates down. Why does the strongest country in the world have the 34th highest interest rate in the world? It makes no sense."
December 18, 2025 at 8:09 PM
Two weeks => Two quarters.
Lutnick: "Look for the second quarter of 2026 to be amazing"
December 18, 2025 at 8:08 PM
But he has made them into his spaces. No one with any love for the country, its traditions, or even just possessing a shred of taste would ever go near them.

Tom Emmer scrubbed his website of any mention of a Somalia caucus he once led with Keith Ellison

“Just because you’re paranoid, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t really after you.”
Q: Susie Wiles referred to you as a "conspiracy theorist" and your transformation into a Trump supporter as "an act of political expediency." Your response?

JD VANCE: Sometimes I am in conspiracy theorist, but I only believe in the conspiracy theories that are true

In truth, car owners are *required* to have car insurance. There are sound economic reasons behind requiring coverage.
There are many cases of mandated coverages, as well.
Do any of the concepts of plans Republicans have suggested recognize these realities?
Scalise: "Everybody complains, 'Why when I watch TV do I see this Gecko lizard & emu & all these animals out there selling car insurance & homeowners insurance? Why aren't they selling healthcare?' That's bc federal laws prohibit people to have choices for lower cost products for health insurance"

ICE detains father driving to work with his son—ask them if they are "legal" or "wet backs?"

Agents disappear him to an unknown location—family says he's been missing for 4 days now.

Trump sent Vance there twice. He threatened to cut off all federal spending to the state. He vowed to back primary challengers of any Republican who voted against him here. He posted their names online, prompting his fans to send them death threats.

But all that failed, so now he wasn't involved.

Terrorism will do that.
ICE was a n my neighborhood. They abducted people blocks away from my kid’s school. I had to stand watch at a bus stop to make sure kids got home safely.

I have not felt this level of abject utter rage since 9/11.

Fuck ICE.

Enemy Incompetence?
To lose one indictment, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose a second looks like carelessness.

A third, though?!

“If you like your dolly, you can pay more for your dolly.”
COLLINS: If the economy is as strong as Trump says it is, then why is he telling parents 2 weeks before Christmas that they should only buy 2 or 3 dolls for their kids?

LEAVITT: What he's saying is if we want products made here, we're gonna have better quality. Maybe you'll pay a dollar or 2 more
December 11, 2025 at 6:45 PM
She left unsaid “that we will publish.”

Domestic terrorism.
ICE detain U.S. citizen for looking Somali—use illegal chokehold to tackle him to ground.

Man repeatedly begs agents to look at his digital passport ID—they refuse.

Drove him 7 miles away before releasing him alone into Minnesota snow storm—told him to "walk home" in freezing weather advisory.

“We can do much better than traditional numbers, and that’s why we will no longer release the traditional numbers, just the ones that I make up.”
Trump: "I think we can do much better than traditional numbers and you see that with what we're doing. We're leading in everything."

Republican run state:
Dozens of vulture carcasses—at least some and probably all infected with HPAI—were reportedly left strewn about the grounds of an elementary school for days while bureaucrats wrangled over who would clean up the site, illustrating what appears to be a huge crisis of state and local capacity in Ohio.

Just because he’s too stupid to use a lawnmower, he’s going to drive an American icon out of business so Komatsu can take over the market.
Trump on John Deere: "We're gonna say, 'you're gonna reduce the prices.' They're gonna have to reduce their prices. Because farming equipment has gotten too expensive ... in many cases, you need about a 185 IQ to turn on a lawnmower."

So, is this actually a “resignation?”
FOX: Interim U.S. Attorney for the state of New Jersey, Alina Habba has resigned. Attorney General Pam Bondi says she accepted the resignation after a court's decision disqualifying Habba from serving.

His obsession with me is creepy. I hope he gets the help he desperately needs.
Trump on Walz: "You look at what he's done with Somalia where Somalia, which is barely a country -- they have no anything, they just run around killing each other. When I see somebody like Ilhan Omar, I always watch her, for years I've watched her complain about our Constitution ... "

It has been somewhat clear that the agenda is to go back a century to the times before income tax.
Trump: "I believe that at some point in the not too distant future you won't even have income tax to pay, because they money we're taking in is so great."

“Crushed by the workload.”
Just a thought, but maybe having the House in session and operating, rather than enabling dictatorial power concentration, might spread the workload around a bit.
Doing your best to literally destroy life-sustaining ecosystems while also sanctioning the torture of people is hard on the spirit, wow who knew
