Been thinking a lot lately about psychological safety and trust. Three A’s as a “healthy culture checklist”:

Authenticity - can people show up as themselves?

Agency - do they have a say? Can they speak up?

Autonomy - can they choose how they work?

Last few days I got to see all three up close.

I often sing the praises of intrinsic motivation and authentic passion for what we do. But the late Herb Lovett, discussing teachers and therapists, pulled me up short when he observed that it's a real problem "when people love what they do more than the people for whom they do it."

I would pay cold hard cash to any legislator’s reelection campaign, who asks RFK Jr to 1) define ASD criteria and 2) explain the full evaluation and assessment process.

I feel like if you can’t even define the diagnosis you claim is caused by vaccines, you are disqualified from speaking on it.

Like so many of our lives, Jonathan's existed at the powerful intersections of Indigeneity, queerness, visibility, and vulnerability. He was fierce, funny, flawed, and real in every way that mattered.

Using police powers of the state to control, punish, or manipulate adversarial political actors is a hallmark of authoritarian regimes. In a democracy, a conflict between a mayor and the federal government would be mediated by the state, courts, and good faith actors, even if they disagree.
