Apparently my experience was far from universal, but one thing I internalized in high school is that it is deeply embarrassing to whine about being disciplined. It’s obviously okay to be seething inside but to all outward appearances you should barely be aware of it. Maybe chuckling a little.

Idea: Anyone can open a tax-advantaged brokerage account and can withdraw from it without penalty (apart from capital gains taxes, which would be set at a lower-than-usual rate), but it is limited to hyper-suitable investments. The first $X has to be basically cash, then beyond that index funds.

I think a lot of people criticize Schumer unfairly, and I sometimes try to push back a little because it’s basically crying wolf if you just attack him 24/7.
But at this point I am very interested in a primary against Schumer (and Gillibrand). I want them gone.

I think a lot of the criticism self-described moderates (Josh Barro and especially Matt Yglesias) get is overblown, but it is pretty damning that they can’t make their arguments without misinforming their readers about the facts. On the left, Yglesias, on the right, the actual results.
