I don’t know what will happen next with this capitulation, but I’m hoping the House goes absolutely feral.
I called my senators today; I’ll call them again tomorrow to thank them for holding the line. I will also call my House rep to encourage her to cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.

Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.
If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Republicans Pitch Alternative to ACA Extension to End Government Shutdown
A proposal by GOP senators to send money directly to consumers’ health accounts rather than to insurance companies showed signs of breaking a stalemate on negotiations.

Caving on a deal that doesn’t fix health care is, and always has been, a giant betrayal of the American people.
Hold the line. Save health care. I’m a NO on anything that doesn’t extend ACA subsidies.

making a béchadel sauce and only women are allowed to taste it
I ended up crashing yesterday afternoon and slept until my usual wake-up time this morning.
The cats must have agreed I needed it, because they didn’t wake me up at dinner time. They just…let it go.
The boys are very food-motivated AND very food-secure, which is honestly weird.

A few weeks back someone was asking how the US legal system could be so impotent and accommodating of the Trump admin's incursions, and at the time I was reading 'A Nation of Enemies: Chile Under Pinochet'. This passage, about Chile's courts and judges, was instructive then, and resonates here.

I find the op-ed declaring Pelosi an "American political giant" almost as repugnant as Douthat. Yes, she did some hugely important things, broke barriers, & was a fierce tactician--until she wasn't. No getting around fact that fascism rose on her watch, & she was too slow, too cautious in the fight.

So, this Sierra Club article...
I worked there for 27 years and was a volunteer before that for a while.
Both for the long-term effectiveness of the environmental movement and as a simple (but complex) matter of justice, the organization needed change.

Or the perennial complaint that mixed income developments supported by public agencies come at the expense of affordable development.
In actuality, the more profitable units you bring into public pipelines, the more affordable units you can support without limited federal dollars.

I got distracted by the cute coaches BUT the purpose of this is more unilateral work, which will hopefully help my slowly-disintegrating neurons keep all the movement patterns. 🤞🏻
With unilateral work, the less-damaged side can’t compensate for the other. Same reasoning as for strength imbalances.

On the advice of my PT, I have invented a new (I’m sure it’s not new) exercise: kickstand-stance single-arm kettlebell press. She wanted me to stand on one leg but my brain refused to do that with a weight overhead. Esp since my coaches like to be underfoot.
Here my coaches are observing my form.

"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.
They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.
If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."
