The most popular thing I did on the old site was telling people about my rejections. Failure and rejection is a big part of academic life. It happens to all of us -- well, at least everyone I know. This thread lists mine and is founded on the hope it helps other people cope better with their own.
I still think Thomas Frank is a decent guy. I would have loved to see him succeed at Spurs. I am also glad that a change is being made.

“We left with all of my children” is a weird answer. Were they considering leaving one or more behind? Do they sometimes forget their children, but not with sex traffickers? Is there some other time they left kids with child rapists?

It has rained every day in Exeter (and I think all of England) since Jan 1. As today is Feb 9, I believe makes 40 days — so we’ve officially reached Biblical levels of rain.

I know the reason Spurs are better in Europe than PL is the quality of opposition. But maybe try white shorts at home in PL just in case it’s that.

Scarlett has plays a whopping 27 minutes all season in 4 appearances. 9 minutes PL (2 appearances) and 18 minutes CL (2 appearances). He turns 22 later this season. He may yet achieve his promise, but it wasn’t going to be this season with this manager.

Very happy with Spurs win and the unlikely 4th place finish in the CL league phase. I love the underdog story of Bodø/Glimt, and am very happy to see they made the knockout phase! (Just hope Spurs don’t have to go there again.)

Side observation: Billionaire sports team owners are probably pricks, regardless of sport or country.
U.S. sports are set up incentivize teams to threaten moving through the terrible practice of publicly financed stadiums (and where revenues/benefits accrue to the team). It’s how much fans hate losing teams that make responding to these threats to move viable.

It can simultaneously be true that some injured players might be “better” (especially peak age players versus pre peak players) that the currently available players, but also that the currently available players are not terrible.
If Spurs win at Frankfurt on Wed, that (as I read schedule) leaves no games between Feb 7 (away at Man U) and Feb 22 (NLD derby at home). That would be an uncommonly convenient time for a midseason coaching change. Also gives TF 3 big chances to make his case case. That said, today even better.
Using the understat PL xG/xPTS table: Since Dec 27, Spurs are 5th in xPTS. (Which slightly overestimates because they are among the 10 teams who’ve played 6 PL games since, other 10 have played 5. That’s an almost apples-to-apples comparison.)
