As a fairly sandbox GM, my prep entails me looking at relationship charts and drawing new lines on them while giggling and kicking my feet. I then get up and go to my wrench room to look for the most appropriate ones to throw at my players plots and schemes. Also you shouldn't hit books, it hurts.
"But GM prep makes me excited!" Are you sure?? Or does hitting the books super hard before everyone shows up actually make you spacey and less creative. Be honest with yourself
