Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

The centrists in the Senate Democratic caucus saw that the country was rallying to the party in the 2025 elections and resolved that they would do anything they could to kill that momentum.

Greenblatt and the ADL will respond with "she doesn't mean it."

At the same time, Columbia and Cornell will enjoy the fruits of aligning with Trump's ideological camp that includes Candace and Fuentes.
There’s no daylight between what Candace says here about “the Jews” & what Nazi propagandists & Father Coughlin said about the Jews in the 1930s. Her show is one of the top 5 “conservative” podcasts in the US. She has 5.5 million subscribers on YouTube and 7.3 million followers on X.

@wtopnews.bsky.social this is who you're running ads for.
Not ICE. Border Patrol. They’re wearing Border Patrol uniforms with clear Border Patrol patches on them.

There are many videos of ICE officers doing outrageous stuff but a lot of the absolute worst videos are of Border Patrol, who are basically Bovino and Miller’s most aggressive tool right now.
ICE agents in Chicago violently detain a non verbal autistic man for being “non compliant”

He couldn’t “comply” because of his disability…they don’t care

This is not the first time they’ve gone after a disabled person

They target the most vulnerable because it’s an easy way to meet their quota

It would be impossible to overstate how deranged and fascistic the US government’s social media accounts have become. Protect “the west” against Spanish speaking Catholics?

When democrats win back the house and senate they should defund the DHS and use all that money for SNAP, healthcare, and free ice cream for everyone, except the DHS/ICE/CBP employees who will get one turnip each.

So this is what Melania referred to with her "I just don't care, how about you" jacket.

One thing that surprised me was how easily major institutions -- supposedly beacons of truth and knowledge -- caved to the whims of an authoritarian.
Breaking News: Cornell University reached an agreement with the Trump administration that would restore hundreds of millions in funding to the university. It's expected to pay a $30 million fine to the government and to invest $30 million in agriculture and farming programs.
Cornell Reaches Deal with Trump Administration to Restore Research Funds
The Ivy League university had warned of layoffs after the Trump administration stripped it of funds this year. The cuts were among the deepest in higher education.

This is appalling. There has to be a way to hold massive companies accountable for *knowingly* facilitating & profiting from criminal behavior. And yes, I understand the value of Section 230, but here we have a trillion $ company that profits by letting its users get scammed. Has to be a better way.

The single biggest question in American law today is:

Are lies a get-out-of-laws-free card? Can the government simply lie to grant itself new powers? And is everyone else under an obligation to act as if obvious lies are true, or at minimum, that they might have merit and deserve respect?

Mike thinks being the Speaker of the House is like a "best boss" mug: honorary feel-good title that means nothing and conveys zero powers or responsibility.
Mike Johnson: "I think the Court has to give deference to that. I think the Court has to recognize the executive is doing what they're doing -- he's using tariffs to create leverage in our trade strategy, and it's yielding great results for the American people."

The BBC is trying to play both sides here.

I could've helped them with my grocery bills -- I am shopping the same amount (and brands) of items, from the same store, every Friday, for the past two years (a bit OCDish, I know).

I am at an 11.3% increase YoY.

I’ll keep pushing this line of analysis because I’m increasingly convinced the clearest path out of this mess is for Dems to adopt a relentless anti-corruption, anti-inequality, anti-oligarchy, pro-democracy platform. The Dem leadership hasn’t realized it yet, but they’re now a reform party.
