I would like to join the Thunderbolts*. My superpower will be that I will stop them from saying "copyright" when they should say "trademark."
In a perfect world, the assigned judge will, sua sponte, dismiss the complaint with prejudice, sanction the attorneys, and declare Trump a vexatious litigant who requires court approval for any future lawsuits.

Big and surprising copyright opinion in the 5th Circuit.

In Vetter v. Resnik, the panel affirms the District Court, holding that when songwriter effected his termination rights under 17 USC 203, it applied to worldwide rights and not just U.S. rights.

Amazing!
This is neither here nor there, but because this came up in a random conversation yesterday, and sometimes I think everyone could use a distraction of something fun and entertaining mixed in with your doomscrolling, here is the best card trick ever performed on TV. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_Kc...

I hope this doesn't mean that I'm going to be shot outside a movie theater.

Mrs O'Leary's cow did more to change the Chicago skyline than any cow in history. Yet somehow nobody is recognizing this great accomplishment. Why is that?
Lady with obvious daddy issues who is wily as fuck pretends she was snookered by an all powerful magazine writer. Hey, Susie: It’s 2025 and you have been the main handmaiden to your boss dad’s heinous war against the media. As if you are a victim.

Last week was George Clooney as Jay Kelly. This week it's Emma Mackey as Ella McCay. What's up for next week, Tom Cruise in Tim Cross?

I thoroughly recommend reading all of Cory Doctorow's recent speech on AI skepticism, it's crammed with new arguments and interesting new ways of thinking about these problems pluralistic.net/2025/12/05/p...

Not sure if it's a "holiday" party, but for sure the party for Michael Douglas at the end of The Game. Just hoping that each of us gets the chance to jump into the giant airbag and find the meaning of life.
What's a fictional holiday party you would love to attend?

My answers:

--the Christmas party from Fanny and Alexander
--the Yule feast in Nicola Griffith's Hild
--the Baileys' "welcome home" party for Harry in It's a Wonderful Life
--the office party in Die Hard; I'm sure nothing will go wrong

Jason Universe doesn't need WB to release Friday the 13th content (they just can't use the term "Friday the 13th). Maybe Netflix will let the JU guys buy the trademark back. 🤷‍♂️

Is Emma Thompson making a Sweeney Todd callback in the opening to Down Cemetery Road? Or is this just a coincidence? You be the judge.

I know that Blueskyers love their physical media, but ITunes is having an amazing mega bundle sale including MGM 100 movies for $100, Paramount 50 for $50, 43 Clint Eastwood movies for $100 and a bunch of other great bundles. Definitely worth checking out if you don't care about having the disc.

You know what would be a great use of AI? If you could feed it a contract that contained defined terms, and it made it so every time those terms appeared in the contract, you could hover your mouse over the word and the definition would pop up. If that doesn't exist yet, could someone get on that?
