Vaccines are one of those things that are truly a victim of their own success. Vaccines have been so effective, that many people have forgotten what the world was like before vaccines. Hell, a lot of doctors trained in the 80s and 90s forgot what many vaccine-preventable diseases even looked like!

It explores nine ancient civilisations (Minoan, Kamakura Shogunate, Kingdom of Benin, etc), what made them great, their culture and society, and what caused their decline. I read it from cover to cover. Ideal for Y5/6.
