The Democrats have moved far enough to the right that the party’s center is where these “soft republicans” should theoretically fall on the political spectrum. They’re either unattainable because they view politics as a team sport or their actual views fall significantly right of their stated views.

Am I going to be the first one to suggest that advocating for the harm of children to disqualify one for holding a position of public trust?
Am I going to be the only one to suggest that firing a public school teacher for speaking out on a matter of public concern raises profound First Amendment issues, and we should pause before cheering on such actions when that power can be weaponized against progressive teachers in red places? 1/3

i think nominating Gavin Newsom will lose the White House again for Democrats. The party's left flank will stay home again because he's an empty corporate shell. The age of Democrats punching left to appeal to the center is over and it's now a matter of if the party as a whole realizes that or not.
