Protests agains US imperialism and FOR civil rights, bodily autonomy, and LGBTQIA+ freedoms have always, always enraged religious authoritarians. But the only recourse they have is punishment. And once you realize that, you can respond accordingly.

Queue my lifelong love for the chorus of Iris because it was all too relatable.
It’s not wrong to want to be loved for who you are — and this is what everyone *should* experience with their family. But for so many of us with religious authoritarian parents, all they wanted were compliant and obedient foot soldiers. We were born to be a part of an army we never signed up for.
