I LOVE my Subaru but the dealership quoted me $750 for 4 tire pressure sensor replacements. Called Costco and they can do it for $240 + tax.

Jeez Louise.

Look, I'm sure that Nolan's adaptation of "The Odyssey" will be fun, but I highly doubt it will be as good as the original.

Finished up “Colorshift” by Melanie Berg, and finally got around to washing and blocking it. Been leaning into wearing more wraps and shawls this winter- they’re nice for keeping a chill off my neck and shoulders while working on more bog witch stuff.

Christmas Quiche success! Used some leftover ham from yesterday’s feast and plan on making split pea soup with more of that ham tomorrow.

While I *AM* atheist, I love an extra day off here and there to lean into slow living and cooking.

I hate to admit it, but getting regular, good quality sleep *IS* the key to my happiness.

Well that and a good paying job that enables it.

I can see the incredible difference between my current 9-5 desk job and the 12hr shifts of cab driving for sure.

Took a little break between book 7 and 8 of The Sandman Slim series for one of my great loves: Autobiographies read by the author. This was a GREAT, but difficult and triggering read. It felt like my emotions and memories were articulated perfectly in this book. 10/10 @kathleenhanna.bsky.social

Ted has me trained. He will stare under furniture/appliances until I get onto the floor and fish out a toy, whether there’s a toy actually under there or not. He also likes to get between me and the void, very helpful.

Slow Horses is just so damn good. If you haven’t seen it, I HIGHLY recommend it. So, so smart.

Bill and Ted keeping me company at the end of the workday. Despite my brain absolutely resenting being forced to operate, I got a lot of hard data logic hammered out. The short winter day is mocking all of us with a 4:30 sundown. #BillAndTedTheCats

I have the privilege of having good PTO benefits in my position. We get Xmas Eve, Xmas, NYE, and NY off work, but they’re all Wednesdays and Thursdays. I took the step of taking each Friday off those weeks for two 5 day weekends in a row. It feels GLORIOUS. I’m going to relax so hard!

I opened this tub of greenies today. Bill decided the two I gave him two minutes ago wasn’t enough. 🤬 obviously all the rest of the cats capitalized on this industriousness.

My hot-take from Mamdani winning:

I’m a little glad he’s an immigrant so he can really spend a lot of time with NYC, leading it, and he doesn’t get poached for President. Like, I think he would do a great job as pres, but NYC deserves his time and effort, long term.

Damn y’all it has been a great day for politics! This site has updates running for all the major results (except 1– the utilities stuff happening in GA, which also look democratic!!) in the US and it’s all so, so hopeful.
Polls close in NYC’s Mamdani-Cuomo mayoral race
Results expected shortly after polling stations close at 9pm on Tuesday (02:00 GMT on Wednesday).

This is awesome, because it seems like the higher percentage of voters that turn out, the more democratic/liberal the outcome usually is. Really hoping for Mamdani to win this, and it seems impossible he won’t— but I was in this mindset for Kamala. I hate this anxiety.

I want to hear about Moscow after some people mentioned drone strikes from Ukraine yesterday and the night before, but no one is talking about it? I’ve google searched and see some mentions about 25% of Russia’s fuel production infrastructure. I want to see more of this and less of sports.
Zelenskyy: Ukraine’s Attacks Removed 22–27% of Russian Fuel Production, Forcing Moscow to Reallocate Supplies
Ukraine reports that strikes on Russian fuel facilities have disrupted 22–27% of refined fuel production, affecting gas availability and refining operations.

My team lead, who does anything but lead, let my director know he would be retiring at the end of the year. They had that discussion in July and I just found out yesterday. Still, plenty of notice, but also explains his extreme avoidance of work lately lol

In this book, some main characters are Jewish, but it’s a high fantasy book with elves. There’s a lot of unwritten historical context in it with antisemitism themes and it’s a good read.

However, being atheist, the real theistic struggles have less hold on me than the fake elves.

We are facing major budget cuts at the UW, which includes layoffs.

No one on my team has been laid off.

There’s an optional meeting this morning for Q&A/info.

The man on my team chose not to go because he’s not worried. Me and my POC teammate go because we do not have that OWG confidence. 🙄

Mike mentioned to me today that Moshing is a form of dance and it blew my mind. I always just thought of it as fighting.

“There are rules, it’s a group dance, and it’s high intensity, like folk dancing!”

What do you think? 😂

(wiki thinks it’s definitely dancing btw)
