Cannot think of any way to game their new system... nope, can't think of any possible issue with this

But let's look at the bright side, and preemptively congratulate all our alphabetically-advantaged colleagues in Maths/CS heavy subfields, for an imminent/well deserved promotion
🧪For those of us who do complex collaborations with multiple corresponding authors this is terrible . I suspect it will also hit female authors disproportionately as they tend to have more collaborations across fields…https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-025-03281-4

Yesterday my 5th grader told me their teacher gave them an assignment:

write a description of their own secret garden (apparently they've been reading it)...that she would then feed into ChatGPT to make a picture of it

I hate this so much

Just realized an upside of AI slop: Anytime I read a really stupid comment somewhere (e.g. Youtube) I allow myself to quickly dismiss it as written by a bot, which may or may not be true but is less existentially threatening than the alternative (i.e. they may walk among us) #denial

Such a perfect illustration of the limits of stochastic text generation: There will always be (many) situations where confidently-wrong Redditors outweigh authoritative sources, confusing the $hit out of LLMs with no hope of recovery. Those are not hallucinations, just the expected behavior...
If you ask ChatGPT “is there a seahorse emoji” it will lose its mind.
It is sure there is (lots of people on reddit think there is). But when it tries to post it and fails it spirals

L'État, à la base, ce n'est pas juste d'être une immense tirelire qui collecte des impôts et reverse des subventions aux entreprises et des allocations aux ménages.

Sa fonction première c'est d'assurer la production de services non marchands de qualité.

Editing for a reputable journal:
🤔 10 reviewers invited
🟢 3 reviews accepted/returned
🟠 All reviews deplore insufficiently comprehensive benchmark (looks quite complete to me but why not...)
🔴 Reviews exclusively suggest inclusion of methods authored by reviewer

😡 Are we still there in 2025?

Concern has been growing in Europe about the power the United States has over cloud services owned by US companies, including not just the ability to demand data, but to shut it off altogether. Canada faces those same vulnerabilities.

Does anyone "get" why Adobe is pushing so hard for their "AI summary" feature in Acrobat?

It's really annoying/detrimental to UX + I'm getting tons of ads for this on Youtube...
So they must see value in having PDF contents sent to them, but even that seems a stretch in terms of business model...

Ce n'est pas un article pour spécialistes, mais j'espère que ceux qui n'y connaissent rien en sortiront mieux renseignés.
