This Saturn’s day, let the Pisces Saturn leave you with a parting message of where your efforts have paid off - and where you may need to continue dedicated (and patient!) efforts.

#PPOD: This very impressive, and little-known, image of a meandering squiggle of high-altitude clouds on Saturn was captured by the Cassini spacecraft on July 18, 2010. It almost looks like one of these fancy latte art designs! Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/SSI/CICLOPS / @jpmajor.bsky.social 🧪 🔭

What a useful resource for organizing.
🚨 New: We built a visual tracker of the warehouses ICE is targeting across the US.

Working off an idea from @actualkatherine.bsky.social, we’ve mapped active searches, canceled deals, and linked state property records.

I can see SO much work has gone into this article to alchemize some good from this tech. I haven't finished reading it, but I'm boosting cause I want to see more discussion on this stuff from people without a capitalist motive
People underestimate LLMs. Their environmental problems are addressable, their origins are open source, and they belong to us just as much as corps (if not more). Despite their many issues, this tech gives me the first glimmer of hope I've felt in a long time.

The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

Wake up. Make breakfast. Do email. Watch a murder. Go to a party for a 5 year old. Laugh with my daughter. See a different angle of that murder. Hear govt officials slander the victim. Play Barbies with my kid. Feed her dinner. Tear up at that victim reading last honors to a vet. Put kid to bed. USA

I can't put into words the feeling of watching our government, a hive of evil antisocial filth, the absolute worst humanity has to offer, colliding with the best. Ordinary people trying to help each other, risking everything to stand up for what's plainly, unambiguously fair and right. It's unreal

The Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee has been one of the main grassroots groups organizing to protect the rights of immigrants in MN. Donating to them or sharing their resources with the people who need them are great ways that you can get involved.

Much of the misery we create for ourselves is by wording uncontrollably and believing those words to be meaningful and to have existence.

A lot of the exotic suffering younger gens face seems to be in our relationship to words.

Words are a fetish.

We don't understand speech but talk a lot anyway.

I just looked up the NATO birth chart, i.e. the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty in Washington, D.C. on 4 April 1949 and… it has a triple conjunction between the Sun, Venus ans Mars in Aries. We’ve just had a recurrence transit involving those three planets — which is rare.

Big topic, but my take is that Buddha-dharma centers on a wholesome appreciation for how action (karma) entails "unsatisfactoriness" (dukkha, "suffering") whenever it's carried out in a condition that's less than fully appreciative of how our ("grasping," "ignorant") sense of self is a construct.
If I understand correctly #Buddhism began as an ethics of action: does this reduce suffering?

In our time, it can become an ethics of systems: does this structure produce suffering?

In this case, structural analysis matters, but without attachment, or it risks reproducing what it seeks to undo.

if this were twitch id be posting "meditation" until I get a time out

by far the best meta skill that will unlock other skills and insights.

learning to work with spirits big and small is also foundational but you can do that faster with mediation (and or discerning spiritually inclined friends)
