I’d missed this interview with Susanna Clarke but so glad to find it
Late to it, but the interview with Susanna Clarke in @fictionable.bsky.social is great. I found this part v moving, on fatigue & brain fog:

“Stories and fiction don’t really come from that place[…] They come from my imagination, from my unconscious, and those things aren’t ill. They’re fine.”

I was just told that my launch event in Glasgow was going to be cancelled because I don't have *enough* tickets sold. Humiliating—not least because I worked my butt off for this book & went to other people's launches.

If I could sell a few more today, maybe I could change their minds. Please.

(also if you love Powell and Pressburger, but actually the most gripping bits are where Scorsese shows specific shots he was inspired by in P&P films next to his own films)

‘Poronkusema’, in Finnish, once denoted a distance of around 7.5km, which is roughly how long a reindeer can last before needing to urinate. ‘Poronkusema’ means ‘reindeer pee’.

LRS: this is why people are hesitant to portray complex disabled people and default to all good or all bad depictions- because ableists will posterize them anyway.
