One reason this matters: if you meet someone who served in the Navy or Army or w/e, the odds are they probably have no more experience or comfort with directly beating someone than a normal person

Is that morally better than, say, helping to arm and maintain a bomber that might kill dozens or hundreds of civilians any given day? That's up to you, but it certainly should influence how you act and move around cops.
