It feels as if the alarm bells in the media about a market crash and ensuing recession if not a second Great Depression are ringing nonstop, especially given that the regime has weakened financial regulations put in place to stop that from happening.
New podcast! I discussed whether the AI investment boom is an unsustainable bubble and how a potential crash could reshape policy and public sentiment with Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research's Ryan Cummings, AI Now Institute's Sarah West, and Blood in the Machine's Brian Merchant.

Had 4 Non Blondes' "What's Up?" playing in my head without knowing the title or artist and was pleasantly surprised to be able to find it online pretty easily—and the video, even if not official, didn't even have any ads attached to it. #smallvictories

It never pays to appease bullies, a lesson I wonder whether Ds will ever learn.
Ppl need to understand what's happening here.

The GOP response to the shutdown was: You're gonna cave, or we're going to hurt vulnerable people by shutting off SNAP. The Dems, unwilling to let that happen, caved.

Having watched that, the GOP is now saying: "Give us what we want on abortion or ..."
NEWS: Senate Republicans are threatening to block the extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies—unless Democrats agree to tougher abortion restrictions.

Been a while since Trump has done a Watergate; he needs to get back on that horse if he's going to keep up the Watergate-a-day pace.
WSJ: Fannie Mae watchdogs who were removed from their jobs had been probing if Trump appointee Bill Pulte had improperly obtained mortgage records of key Democratic officials, including New York Attorney General Letitia James.

This is why this surrender isn't just about this narrow issue but is rather the whole constitutional ballgame:

Democrats are affirmatively signaling they do not want political power at the same time Trump is transitioning the political system into an autocratic one wherein they're denied it forever
Not that he didn’t already know, but now Trump knows for sure he can roll the Dems every time and there’s no need to negotiate for anything

So the Senate vote to advance the funding deal is currently 56-40. All the Democrats have voted. FOUR Republicans have not yet voted: John Cornyn, Rick Scott, Ron Johnson and Mike Lee. All of them need to vote YES to get this to 60, otherwise it fails.
