Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

Believing that the sick should be able to be seen by a doctor or that the hungry should have access to food aren't blue or red values. They're simply human decency.

Osbourn High School will be offering free after-school dinner to all City of Manassas students Monday-Thursday each week from 3:30-5:30PM. #Virginia

In 2021, we passed my bill HB 2135 requiring schools eligible for the Afterschool Meals program to participate in it. MCPS has done a great job w/ it.

It's been 9 years since my brutal surgery. There are no words that adequately describe the rage that continues to fill me each time I have to explain to a provider why I don't have any teeth.
Today is one of those days.

I'm on a 17 minute flight from Charlottesville to IAD. I would have taken the train if one fit my schedule. The existence of this flight is profound policy failure.

School meals are essential, but Congress is considering harmful cuts. Reducing access to school breakfast and lunch would hurt millions of children who rely on these programs to learn and grow.

We must fight back. Tell Congress: No cuts to school meals! bit.ly/3EYWTp4

The #ACA includes a Maximum Out of Pocket (MOOP) limit for in-network care; anything over that has to be covered by the insurance carrier.

This is great in theory; the idea is to prevent a household from being bankrupted by a once-in-a-lifetime "hit by a bus" medical catastrophe. 1/
This week's adventure, in addition to school, has been trying to figure out how to reduce a $1700 a month co-pay for a much needed biologic.

Insurance coverage doesn't mean a thing if care is still unaffordable.
