Just so we’re clear:

We’re a lefty money account, not a MAGA account.

Just bc we are telling folks to stay calm during tariff & stock market volatility does not mean we endorse what our shitbird president is doing.

We’re here to talk you through how to react & how to protect yourself long term.
I am going to continue to be a menace 😈

Three things to do today:

1. Don’t shop at Hobby Lobby

2. Don’t shop at Temu

3. Don’t eat at Chick-fil-A

“I thought I was an anti-capitalist before I was on this page but you've radicalized me further in that direction.”

Definitely my favorite comment on one of our posts today 🥰🥰

Three things to do today:

1. Send $10 to your emergency fund

2. Power your phone all the way off and then back on again (you’re supposed to do this regularly)

3. Drink an extra big glass of water

BREAKING: The House of Representatives just passed a bill that would subject immigrant children to invasive bodily searches and keep them in detention instead of releasing them to their families.

The Senate must vote no on this horrific bill.

Doomscroll checkpoint!

Time to put your phone away for the night. The doom will still be there tomorrow 😘

Just want to share with my American friends how the Australians respond to a shooting tragedy. Action, rather than thoughts and prayers.

It’s ten days until Christmas, which means it’s a great time to send money to your local food bank or snag one of those last lonely gift tags from a local giving tree.

If you’re feeling the itch to buy “just one more thing,” do that instead.

Me, today 😴
“Well then,” said Toad, “a little more sleep will not hurt me.”

Three things to do today:

1. $10 to savings

2. Stock up on a few “rescue” dinners for your freezer for the days that you’re too exhausted and otherwise would be ordering takeout

3. Send a message to a loved one you haven’t heard from in a while

Kinda fascinating that a month and a half after giving away a quarter of her wealth + calling out billionaires there are now articles saying she’s hit a career low. Not at all connected, I’m sure.

Went with my pregnant bestie to get her Covid & flu shots today. Definitely an excellent birthday present 🥰

(I’m being serious. It was an excellent present.)

Happy birthday to ME 🥳🥰

Grateful for another trip around the sun. I will never let anyone convince me that growing older is anything but miraculous.

Here’s to 38, and the new grays and wrinkles that come with it. Because I’ve earned this passage of time 🩶

Friday’s Frugal Five, a peek into our frugal week:

1. We decorated our tree on Sunday, with one single new ornament and no new lights. Our tree is no kind of pretty aesthetic, but the ornaments come with stories & memories, and we spend the time listening to Christmas music and decorating together.

Me, taking my own advice today:

Saying no to a wonderful holiday event that I’ve loved attending in the past, but my schedule is already over full.

Giving the gift to future me of a quiet evening in the middle of a very busy season.

Three things to do today:

1. Stash $10 physically in cash at your house (mini prep)

2. Unfollow two accounts that make you want to spend money or make you feel like you aren’t good enough

3. Check your fridge - any food going bad soon? Eat it.

Idc if Christmas is two weeks from today. There’s nothing you need from Target.

If you haven’t moved your savings to a HYSA yet because you can’t decide which bank to go with, what’s the worst that could happen?

A year from now you decide you actually want your money in a different bank and you have to transfer your money again?

Three things to do today:

1. Remind yourself that you’ve already done enough when it comes to presents. They don’t need that “one more thing”

2. Go through that stack of mail that’s sitting in a pile in the corner

3. Sunscreen the backs of your hands

When I talk about quitting buying clothes (it’s been 8.5 years and counting), people have a hard time believing that it's worth it.

That I'm "giving up" the good stuff.

But really? The good stuff comes from the freedom of opting out of something we're told we have to care about.

Please tell me you get this reference.

And extra pretty please don’t ever, ever join an MLM. Or even support them. If you want to help out a friend, just give her cash.

Three things to do today:

1. Review your subscriptions - is there anything you’re paying for that your not using? Cancel them.

2. Delete 20 (or 200) photos from your phone

3. Drink a big glass of water - right now

It is completely normal to have a Christmas tree that looks like total nonsense because your lights don’t match, you’re not great at stringing them evenly, and your ornaments are a not-aesthetic mix of completely random sizes and types.
