The voice that Anthony Bourdain introduced in “Don’t Eat Before Reading This” “is not just brash and ballsy; it reverberates with style and poetry, from its tantalizing opening lines,” Hannah Goldfield writes. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/q-s7-D
Hannah Goldfield on Anthony Bourdain’s “Don’t Eat Before Reading This”
Bourdain was much more than a whistle-blower, even at the very beginning of what would become his second, incredibly significant career.

This week, representatives of just about every country in the world are gathering for COP3 climate talks. The U.S. won’t be sending its President or any other high-ranking officials.

Governments and Billionaires Retreat Ahead of COP30 Climate Talks
Worldwide, every other week seems to bring a new climate-related crisis. Increasingly, the response has seemed to be a dulled acceptance.

FFS I hope for balance BBC news is going to start every news report going forward by saying Donald Trump lies every time he speaks . Because all they are doing is producing soundbites for fascists .

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

Obv the Right wing reactionary attacks on the BBC have been going on for a 100 yrs. It's a pernicious mix of wedge issue culture war, hard-line market absolutism but also deep seated philistinism. They are rotten terrible people who only seek to make the world worse while maintaining their power.

A desperately sad day for UK Public Service Broadcasting. We suspect The Times wants to replace the BBC as the medium that explains the UK to itself; The Telegraph wants the UK to be linked in an ever closer union with Trump. Both are cock-a-hoop today. These are big battles for Britain.
