The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

Pet food is usually not covered by SNAP (depending on where you are), but needing to cover more groceries may take up what you would have spent on it. Many animal shelters have pet food pantries, so check your local if you're struggling to feed your pets.

Yes please! Both me and my partner are gf for medical reasons. We got a good delivery from a pantry and almost everything was gluten full. They don’t take requests for food intolerances
A reminder to those fortunate enough to be able to donate to food banks, of course cheap non-perishables is how many go and those are great too, but if you have the means, there’s a ton of people who need food banks with medical issues who need gluten-free food, dairy free etc.!
