What a Democrats proposing in lieu of ICE? Purely local enforcement of immigration law? A new and better enforcement agency? A whole new cabinet department overseeing all immigration functions? No internal enforcement beyond the border? The word after “Abolish ICE” needs to be “and”.

It's actually a good thing that previously apolitical normies are finally getting angry and starting to speak out. We need the numbers in the streets and at the polls.

If your response to them is "no, fuck you, too late," then you don't actually care about stopping Trump. You're just preening.

There are many ways of course Congress could limit or regulate ICE. For example, a law could require approval of the mayor or local authorities for any deployment of ICE or CBP to any community.

In my world, there's a certain reluctance to being merely, or in a knee-jerk way, a resist lib. That's understandable, even commendable. On the other hand, let's be clear: It's a hell of lot better, morally and intellectually and politically, to be a resist lib than a Vichy conservative.

The gop is afraid of their voter base. The Dems are afraid of the gop voter base.
The reactionary centrist logic is simple: if the left does something bad it’s the left’s fault, and if the right does something bad, it’s also the left’s fault for making them do it. It’s a simple formula and once you see it every one of their arguments is the same

I will admit that "Abolish ICE" seemed extreme years ago. Not anymore: This agency has made itself a disgrace and a danger to the United States. Close it, prosecute its leaders and personnel for their crimes, and hand whatever legitimate functions ICE once handled to agencies that will obey the law.
