In my experience, Bipolar is a sleep disorder.
A study finds that deep sleep rewires the brain to eliminate anxiety.

My own study suggests that anxiety rewires the brain to eliminate deep sleep.

Is it just me or is packaging a nightmare?
I just spent 15 minutes trying to unwrap a wooden rake handle. 4 rolls of cardboard taped together with tape that took a sharp Opinel knife to cut, followed by4 layers of wrapping paper. I am exhausted and lucky to keep my fingers; all for an F-ing rake.

I really like this and I don't know why.
It’s been over two weeks but this is the third of the ‘plants on rocks’ photo grouping from Ogunquit, Maine (2024). Two of these will make their way into a photography section in my Baker Portfolio as I revise it. #photo #art #artphoto #plants #photography #artist #digitalphoto #camera

Beautiful.

What do pink Panthers eat?
Durum, durum. Durum, durum, durum...

But not Italian Durum wheat pasta in America.

Sweeping up for Remembrance Sunday with a neighbour who commented on her joy that the Beech tree outside her house had finally shed all its leaves.

I wish I could go to sleep for another winter.
Autumn in one picture. Lovely.

Soon all the colour will drain away from the forest and the leaves will be gone as the trees go to sleep for another winter.

Appalling. America should be ashamed.
The worst of it is they want to export their chaos and cruelty worldwide.

To understand that vision (and how it holds up under scrutiny), senior correspondent Eric Levitz spoke with Sunkara this week. They also discussed Mamdani’s victory — and what Democrats can, or can’t, learn from it. voxdotcom.visitlink.me/IOQG5j
How would Zohran Mamdani’s dream economy actually work?
What “democratic socialism” really means.

Reminds me of the Howgill Fells with Scottish Beinns behind.
I passed a tree today planted in the village to commemorate the Relief of Mafeking in 1900. Looking at this beautiful photo, the landscape would not have been too unfamiliar to local Boer war soldiers.
After several days of rain in South Africa's Drakensberg, towering basalt cliffs emerge from the clouds, as hikers (small white dots) make their way up the verdant foothills dressed in beautiful dappled light.

Our darling Stanley crossed the bridge this afternoon. He has been becoming frail and we had the hole dug a couple of months ago. We walked all the dogs up to Pikefield and the vet put Stanley to sleep next to the hole. All very peaceful.

I wish I knew why 79 year olds are so obsessed with gaining money that they will never spend; that their children, and their children's children will never need, or spend.

Insane.
