Even if you accept the BS idea that “both sides” need to de-escalate, it is hard to see sending Homan in as an effort by the Trump Administration to reduce tensions. (Contrast with Walz’s repeated calls for calm, deployment of law enforcement to rein in protests, etc.)
Trump's border czar Tom Homan to visit MN Monday
Homan's visit comes as Minnesotans navigate the deaths of two Minneapolis residents at the hands of federal officers in less than a month.

In Minneapolis, one man knew immediately what he could offer and said “Bring me your clothing”.

I know it's hard for the WaPo to get competent headline writers, but Trump is NOT putting tariffs on European countries. He is imposing taxes on goods we import from European countries. The tax is on us, not them www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

The move escalates tensions between the U.S. and longtime allies that have been sending Trump a message that the territory of Denmark is not for sale.

Seems like Blue States might do well to follow the example of the EU when it comes to battling Trump--

🔵 Speak with one voice

🔵 Act methodically (one fight at a time)

🔵 Show strength

🔵 Wok with the rest of the world, as much as possible

🔵 Fight for as long as necessary

It follows that Trump leaked the most market-moving economic numbers that exist.

I have no idea how illegal this is, or if the law even matters any more.

But I do know this: It's unprecedented. No White House has ever before leaked such important market-moving numbers. No serious country does this

“Domestic political weakness increases the incentives for decisive action abroad, while institutional erosion sharply reduces theconstraints that might otherwise check it. Under these conditions, foreign policy becomes an arena in which action is possible precisely because domestic politics is not.”

If you are anxious and sad about the state of the world, that's fine, and there are plenty of strategies for dealing with that. But I think you already know that drive-by online dooming isn't a strategy. It's selfish and adolescent. It's a contagion that only spreads the worst of you, not the best.

“We cannot undo what was done. But we can refuse what comes next. We can refuse the lie that this is normal. And we can do it without becoming what we oppose. Nonviolence is not passivity. It is discipline in defense of the human.”
She was fatally shot in South Minneapolis during a federal immigration operation. MPR reports armed Border Patrol agents showed up at Roosevelt High during dismissal and used chemical agents on bystanders. My reflections below.

Hey Ron, when Coolidge said ”there are racial considerations” to immigration and that “certain divergent people will not mix or blend” he was referring to all 8 of your great-grandparents.
Something very funny about de santis praising Coolidge for “immigration.” Coolidge’s immigration policy was that people named de santis shouldn’t be allowed to come here bsky.app/profile/anth...

But still, he was fine leaving town without passing ACA health care subsidies, leaving Montanans to deal with the skyrocketing premiums. #MT01
