It takes a village.
You don’t know your role yet maybe, but we are all finding out just what we have to offer.

In Minneapolis, one man knew immediately what he could offer and said “Bring me your clothing”.

New in PN: American embarrassment. Global pariah.

"Donald Trump sounded like a fascist dictator suffering from a brain bleed during his speech yesterday at Davos. It was a national embarrassment even by the lowly standards of modern American politics."
American embarrassment. Global pariah.

The TACO cycle:

Markets want to price in TACO. But TACO only works if Trump sees stocks tank.

So we get a loop: Trump does things → nothing happens (markets already priced in TACO) → that emboldens him to do more → until markets start to think he might not TACO → stocks fall → TACO is restored.

It’s not very American to make Americans pay tariffs on goods from other countries. Seems like you’re robbing your own people.

Sounds like the world is moving ahead without America. So much for America first. It takes a village.
This is the best speech, just from a pure rhetoric perspective - its sophistication and persuasiveness - that I've seen a politician deliver in a good long while. Really recommend watching or reading the whole thing.

Buttigieg for President. He sees through our present turmoil to a more enlightened age.
A day will come when Donald Trump no longer dominates our politics.

Even though this is obvious, it’s hard to keep in mind.

The future will belong to those who can think clearly about what happens next.

Trump loves Saudi Arabia. It’s an authoritarian society, which punishes dissent and is owned by the wealthiest family on earth.

Trump hates Europe. The governments there are democratically elected.

The future of America must be a vibrant democracy. Not Trump’s authoritarianism.
