80% of Democratic voters want a new leader in the Senate.

Does that matter at all to Democratic senators?

King is 81yo. He won’t be running again either, he just does not want to say he’s retiring because certain FEC regulations go into effect when that happens.

None of the Dem Senators (or Democratic-caucusing) who voted yes on the CR are worried about reelection:

• Dick Durbin – IL – Retiring 2026

• Catherine Cortez Masto – NV – Up 2028

• Jacky Rosen – NV – Up 2030

• John Fetterman – PA – Up 2028

• Maggie Hassan – NH – Up 2028

Senators, like cops, care about themselves and each other *far* more than they care about the people they’re supposed to serve.
Don't let it be lost how as soon as the Senators were personally inconvenienced by the shutdown (flight delays) they caved.
There was never any "fight" it was "so long as this doesn't impact me personally..."

Hey, @schumer.senate.gov!

Americans gave you a clear assignment last Tuesday, and you didn’t understand it.

Now, we are giving you another one: Step down and allow a Democrat with a spine to unite your caucus for the good of all Americans.

Remember what you told Biden? Now, tell it to yourself.

Interesting that no one is thanking the senators that caved. People are thanking the senators that didn’t cave. This was a cave not a compromise.

Shaheen is probably right. In reality, not a single member of the Senate gives two shits about Americans losing their healthcare when the GOP eviscerates the ACA...

There is no doubt remaining that the Democrats own this shutdown.
Forty days went by, and those who capitulated and surrendered could have stopped this anytime if this little lie was what they would settle for.
I am sure a few people unalived themselves during that time due to the strain.

Make no mistake about it. Chuck Schumer orchestrated those 8 Democrats. There is no way those lifelong system oldtimers just stepped out of line for the good of their constituents. Schumer lined his pockets once again.
