The cash value of MUN going from 7 VPs to 3 VPs plus 3 Assoc VPs (or whatever they are calling them), is probably $400K, +/- $100K.

MUN's structural deficit is $20M.

The move is a reasonable response to public concern about admin. It does not significantly address the uni's financial challenge.
PSA: it is in fact possible for universities to address financial challenges by slashing (incredibly expensive and largely useless) admin positions.

Memorial University just downsized VPs from 7 to 3.

Yes we can!

not surprised i guess. so much spent on Signal Hill to just sell is a shame, as is Harlow and the library space there (assuming that was still there). likely none of it used as well as it could have been.

oh goodie. why is it every time i move to an institution, this happens?
OK, I have now read the Terms of Reference in more detail. My more considered opinion of the review is that the Government has lost its damn mind.
The BC Govt has announced a review of the public post-secondary system. Review will be led by Don Avison, recently Chair of the board at Emily Carr. He's a past Deputy Minister of Education, Skills and Training, and President of the Research Universities Council of BC
