Today is the ten year anniversary of my proudest ever achievement in publishing, RUSHOMON: the time I got both a Rush Hour Crush and a Good Deed printed on the same page of the UK Metro, both of which told a single, horrifying, story from two different angles. It's been all downhill ever since.

This is a fundamental realisation that it took me years to come to.
The enjoyment of art comes from the countless hidden decisions that were made slowly, which you as an audience enjoy quickly.
The speed of consumption renders the craft invisible, magical.
Creation at speed can’t do this.

Can’t find it now, but someone clarified my thinking on generative AI by saying it’s about the number of choices going into a creative work
Even a fine-tuned prompt involves orders of magnitude fewer choices vs writing a short story, painting a little picture, etc etc
