Leftist from WA. Every couple years I find myself unable to resist yapping about elections and politics. Looks like 2026 is not the year for that to change.
wow that took forever but Na'Cole and Annette both cleared their Leander races with little trouble and that's exactly what I wanted to see, good night

According to the Louisiana Democratic Party, Chasity Martinez got outpsent by a 3-to-1 margin in tonight's election yet still turned in a 37-point overperformance—and a victory.
Congratulations to Chasity Verret Martinez on her election to represent House District 60.

She was outspent 3-to-1 and still won. This is what happens when grassroots Democrats show up and organize.

Proud of this win and excited to keep building power together. #LaDemos

Final results in the Louisiana #HD60 (Trump+13) special election:

Chasity Martinez (D)- 62%
Brad Daigle (R)- 38%

Martinez holds this Trump+13 seat for the Democrats and puts in a nearly 40 point overperformance from 2024 in the process

Ivy Woods getting about 31% as a former-democrat-turned-independent is somewhat impressive in a district that gave Harris just 20%, but him being a former parish sheriff and independent means it's not apples-to-apples

HD60 is gonna finish counting before we get anything out of leander 😭

In those three precincts, the Democrat (Chasity Martinez) is outrunning Harris's margins by 41, 41, and 10 points respectively.

That 10 point overperformance is in a majority-Black precinct that already backed Harris by 80.

whoa martinez's margin went up after what was presumably the first e-day drop. That's... shocking, tbh. Still early but damn.

First results out of the Louisiana #HD60 (Trump+13) special election:

Chasity Martinez (D)- 55.6%
Brad Daigle (R)- 44.4%

Just early vote, but Harris lost the early vote here by around 15-20 points in 2024, so good start for the Democrats in their attempt to retain this seat.

I didn't even know these stats existed until just now but the early vote party breakdowns of HD60 are actually pretty encouraging for democrats. Iberville and Assumption parish both have dems above reps despite them being republican turf in general (tho idk how party affiliation lags affect this)

Leander finally updated their elections page but they just added the text "Unofficial results" without filling out the body lol

I have no idea if they try to count all ballots before publishing anything or what, but if that's the case then unless they first do an early vote dump it may be a while

Am I reading the Leander voter summary list correctly? It seems to suggest over 4300 early/absentee votes?? That's nearly as many people as voted for mayor there in 2024...

maybe it dupes entries for people who vote for mayor and the councilmember election? Idk

Race is over with these vote totals, even allowing for a decent chunk of mail to still come and a high provisional rejection rate

Malinowski is winning Essex mail by 15% vs 36% in Morris

He might not even win late VBM in Essex, seems to be no sources of votes left for him
