Occurred to me from watching random HS band videos on YT that much of the reason people remain nostalgic for the Platonic ideal of teenhood is that it's one of the last times that you're "allowed" to be silly and creative in public without judgement... Almost as if that's something adults need too 🤔

I never take my phone on dog walks, really regretting that today.
We passed by flats with bushes of this lovely looking purple flower in front. In the process of sniffing, one fell on his left ear. He'd never looked so nice before.
Then on the way back he shook his head so it'd fall off.

its miserable to go through 35-40 Celsius temperature without any AC. Its the point at which it gets so hot your body just wants to shut down

With preservation, often there's, in theory, a degree of having to accept one did the most they could given their circumstances.
That's hard to swallow knowing that nobody else would've tried to save the same gamut of stuff as you.

The color of the sky here is a kind of muted light blue, kind of a green-gray. Great match for a cloudy sundown or sunset, very odd to witness at 10 minutes left to midnight.

The whole elephant in the room wrt localization is that “adequate and cheap” is good enough for 90% of companies, and they really don’t care about what the audience outside of Japan gets as long as they make some profit
As the threat of AI translations and subtitles keeps rising, at some point we need to have the conversation about how the push for these are coming more from JP producers and publishers rather than western ones because the reality is Japan generally doesn't care that much about localization quality

Unfortunately, I think we’re going to start seeing more of the residual effects of the 80s/90s Japanese game dev work culture (LOTS of smoking, long hours/office sleeping, heavy drinking after work) hitting in tragic ways within the next decade or so…

Had a pile of songs I had to and/or wanted to listen, so I put them semi-arbitrarily in a playlist. Was pleasantly surprised to hear PLUTO (by SUGIZO, from the album C:LEAR) segue fantastically into HALF LIFE [JAPANESE VER] (by COALTAR OF THE DEEPERS, from the SHEEP E.P.).

He's a stray we adopted, so no idea what the exact date is, but some time this month should've been Billy's 14th birthday. The senility has come in bursts, but lately he's been his normal self, still energetic as always, even at his twilight years.

My mom & I have wildly different tastes in film, so finding recommendations for her can be quite difficult. Lucked out in the past with House of Gucci & Baz Luhrmann's Elvis; today lucked out again with Nickel Boys. Had to explain some details, but she enjoyed it even with the unique cinematography.
