Anyone do an RMA with Western Digital recently? They acknowledged my return a month and a half ago, and still nothing. Still listed as “processing”

Going to reach out to them this week. Not the level of service I remember from back in the day ☹️

Welcome to my MIDI family...

The Roland Sound Canvas SC-88 Pro. I'm surprised how many vocal samples it has. Very distinct instrumentations really enjoying it.

Sadly the SC-55 mode isn't 100%, so I'll certainly keep that around but for what it is, I'm really happy with it.

Seriously thinking of resurrecting my BBS (again). This time with Telnet, SSH and proper dial-up 🤔

One node or two node dial-up? 🙃

I picked up this clear Sun SPARCstation LX a couple weeks ago. I was told that it was a special machine used for trade shows. Let's take it apart, back up its hard drive with BlueSCSI initiator mode, and start recapping the power supply. Saturday noon EST. youtube.com/live/W6tjUSo...
What is inside this clear Sun SPARCstation LX? Disassembly, BlueSCSI hard drive backup, PSU recap

Was doing some research about a barebone that have a sort of ITX sized S479 motherboard with AGP and PCI using intel 855GME chipset and bumped into this on the retro web!
Can you imagine picking up an old AT system and finding this inside instead of a regular 386/486?!

Hello folks. I would love to get this HAKKO FR301-81 Desoldering tool and found a really good price for it on eBay. Any donation would be greatly appreciated .

I've been working on a little project while I've been away.
Maybe one of the smallest computers ever to run Windows 98SE natively, with Video, Sound, LAN and USB, no emulation, bare metal.
It's been a mission as it was never meant to run this OS and driver hunting was insane!

Some testing with the AMD Geode LX, it’s basically a Cyrix 5x86 on steroids. Big L1 and L2 caches, and MMX/3DNow! instructions embedded in the FPU (so non-pipelined, it really hates MMX codepaths). Here are the results from testing multiple code paths and rendering methods in FastDoom:

Got this (un)interesting dual head Matrox G400. I’ve heard about its special dual-output capability back in the early days. But the card always felt like it’s not for gaming. And I’ve never considered to build a PC with it back then.

But here we are🤡

Need help identifying a chip on Asus V7100 DVI. I think it's a 3.3V regulator for the Sil transmitter chip. Please help if you have this card!😋

this has been the toughest set i’ve ever tried to dial-in, but I kinda expected that because these Slimfit tubes are notoriously hard to calibrate. Made major progress on it today though, full analog board recap + reseated yoke and re-adhered yoke wedges. just needs that pincushion adjusted…

Super excited to get this legend back up. Shuttle FV25 board (from the SV25 system), one of the first to lead the way to ITX form factor (and other Shuttle SFF systems). It’s been dead forever and I recently found it again. Since my skills have improved, I gave it another shot and it’s good to go!

The first sound card in my testbench is the Terratec Maestro 16/95.
The Crystal/Dream CS9233 wavetable synth uses a patch set identical to the Terratec Mini Wave System SOWT-11 and SOWT-12 daughterboards, and also has integrated FM synthesis, but I have yet to find out if its CrystalFM or DreamFM.
