Enjoying hardware and games from ISA to AGP graphics, with a special love for old sound cards.
Reminder that if you want to upgrade your Sound Blaster card with a CM/S (also called Game Blaster) system, you can get these for around 5$ USD and flash them yourself.
Real Sound Blaster cards have sockets for them, my Tecnoplus Sound machine (CT1350B clone with real Creative chips) has footprints.

What are you saying?
Too old?!
Only fits old ass computers?
Boy do have news for you, smarty-pants!
With these adapters, they even fit in your fancy-ass modern gaming PC*!
They even come in 2 versions so they don't obstruct each other!

*As long as that gaming PC is 72 pin SIMM based.

Oh what the hell I just didn't expect to get an invoice for half a thousand bucks when someone says DM me, I'll help you out with these cards.
Great learning experience with not so great timing.

I would love to put my ELSA GLoria XL to use for once, but it's an OpenGL card and Bryce (used to render the pics quoted) only renders on the CPU.
Although it did at least get an OpenGL preview view.

This is the only computer art I respect.

Can't wait to watch the video to find out why a sane person would buy a Geforce 6200 (other than the box art being lit).
I bought way too many GeForce 6200s, so now I've gotta inflict my fiscal irresponsibility on you, the unsuspecting viewer!

Join me as we take a look at the graphics card that redeemed the budget category, for a generation at least!

To be fair though, if I'd been married to that piece of work, I'd celebrate, too.
Just like I did anyway.

This comes day to the LCS-6924's Promise (PTI) PDC20230C chip against the boards integrated UMC UM8672F which is also connected via VLB internally.
But I haven't found any datasheets that help me determine if one of them has a sigificant advantage.
So, my repaired Cirrus Logic CL-GD5429 is a must.
What do I do with the second VLB slot, though?
I do have an IO controller, a Longshine LCS-6924, but will that even increase performance at all?
I doubt there are even any other expansion cards for the slot besides IO controllers and graphics cards.

Hmph. What could it even still be at this point, after checking traces and diodes, replacing the controller and buffer chip?
I got the chip replaced and, drum roll................

Therapy should not be as hard to get as it is.
In fact, one in 20 people should be a therapist, and a weekly hour of therapy should be mandatory for every person in the world.
Especially those of you that disagree.

Played hacked PSP, PS Vita and NDS with Flashcarts for NDS and GBA/GBC/GB this year.
While the Vita is by far the most impressive device, I'm bummed out by how it's not buch better at emulation than the PSP, and has only a hand full of good games the PSP does not.
Oh, and the NDS' library wins.

Last but not least, this floppy is SO cool to receive.
I have no idea what's on it.
A message?
A game?
Drivers for the Ensoniq card?
A delwin32 virus?
I got goosebumps!
What a cool idea to include this.
Whatever I'll find, I'll keep the floppy as a display item!

And here we have the reason @vswitchzero.com sent the package in the first place!
An IBM Model M!
I never owned one before, it was far more likely to get a Cherry keyboard in Germany.
Thrice as heavy as my already robust Cherry G80-1000.

This Ensoniq Soundscape Vivo 90 might as well be the main dish of the package if you're as much into sound cards as I am!
The FM synth is the same bad Analog Devices FM used in e.g. the Terratec Base-1, but has a wavetable synthesizer with samples that no other manufacturer used - exciting stuff!

In many a box of vintage hardware, this would already be the coolest find:
An ECS ZN4971 AIO VLB motherboard!
theretroweb.com/motherboards...

Nothing too special about it, it's just perfect for my DX2-66 build where I try to build a very common VLB system instead of something extra fancy.

Let's start with the goodie bag and work our way towards the main attraction!
Here we have two CPU coolers for socket 3, can't ever have enough of these!
Also a case fan for PCI slots and three stickers.
Where will I put them?
Ideas welcome!
