The last part I need for firing up that 3 GHz but still ISA computer should arrive tomorrow, I can't wait to bench DOS stuff!
Also I might try adding a line out to my Creative Goldfinch CT1920, which is just an EMU8000 synthesizer with expandable memory, which needs no DMA or IRQ, just an address.

Here's the Peltier-cooled Pentium 4 (Northwood, 3 GHz w/ HT) with the 3 ISA slots, and what I wanted to insert.
In the end, I had to swap the AWE32 CT3980 for a shorter SB32 CT3670 for length reasons.
I can only imagine how pissed a PCB designer must be to print "Please: RTFM" on revision 1.2 😂

I am torn on the Metal Slug series: I absolutely adore the art and how evrything moves, the gameplay, all of it - but I SUCK at playing these myself.
You would think the controls are too simple to mess up, but I often mix up grenade and jump because there's more going on then I can concentrate on.

Okay it boots fine without the card, the card still works in the other PC, when the card is so much as connected, I hear a quiet tick-tick-tick-tick noise that I cannot quite locate, I don't know what is causing it but this is the worst and I need to find out.

I thought the 72pin SIMM module I installed was 16 MB, not 4.
But it's very much possible I just jumpered it wrong, for the card has a jumper for 4 vs 16 MB.
It's so late I probably won't open up the PC again before getting some sleep, though.
