Just went to a Commonwealth bank ATM in Spearwood WA . The ATM only dispensed $50 and $100 notes . Tough luck for the poor who might have $49 in the bank before payday 😢Stop punishing the poor

Always remember that when you hear mining-friendly journalists (and talking heads) talk up the size of the mining industry, they're just talking about profits, and they sure as hell will never argue they should be taxed fairly.

Bernie Fraser “not fair that workers whose..value of their pay go backwards for years are bearing the burden of managing inflation, or indebted households barely able to pay for essentials after..their mortgages are hit with high interest rates when their spending is not causing the problem”

The deep goal of bluesky is to decentralize the social internet so that every individual controls their experience of it rather than having it be controlled by 5 random billionaires. Everyone thinks they signed up for a demuskified twitter...we actually signed an exciting and bizarre experiment.

Billion dollar profits. Treat their workers and us consumers like mugs. I’m with the striking Woolies workers on this.

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

Switching to Bluesky from the other place is the social media version of keeping your old friends, making a bunch of new ones, and dumping your toxic relationships. It’s a fresh start and it’s invigorating!

Shocking as it sounds, it’s quite possible people prefer the civility and community of Bluesky over being force fed some cooked up algorithm concocted by a bombastic billionaire to amplify trolls, bots, and miscreants. Imagine that!

Labor’s push to ban social media for teens while ignoring the harm of gambling ads is a glaring double standard. Why fast-track unproven social media laws but sideline gambling ad reform—something over 70% of Australians support?

Yup. Utterly daft decision. Whoever makes the hiring and firing decisions at the ABC is the one who should be fired. Oh & whichever numbskull it was that axed The Drum. I still get asked about it.

I will never understand how a billionaire, the richest man on Earth, spent millions to buy an election for ANOTHER billionaire, and told us that his policies would cause all of us non-billionaires “temporary hardship...”

...and the public didn't tell BOTH OF THEM to fuck off.

WTF is going on here at Blue Sky? People are civil to each other. People having intelligent discussions. People are spelling things correctly. I haven’t seen any racism or sexism.

I’m confused.
