First outbreak of Marburg (or Ebola) in Ethiopia. There isn't a licensed vaccine for Marburg, but an experimental one was used for a 2024 outbreak in Rwanda (www.science.org/content/arti...).

The suspected outbreak of a hemorrhagic vial illness in Ethiopia has now been confirmed to Marburg Virus Disease. So far 9 cases have been identified in a part of the country that shares a border with Sudan.

Este estudio en Italia detecta altas seroprevalencias frente a dengue y zika en inmigrantes, lo que indica que la exposición en sus países de origen les ha creado inmunidad protectiva. Ello hace difícil que introduzcan dichas enfermedades en Europa.

En 1656, una terrible epidemia de peste azotó todo el Reino de Nápoles. Se estima que murió más de un millón de personas y al menos un tercio de la población de la ciudad de Nápoles. Algunas ciudades y pueblos quedaron prácticamente vacíos. Los cronistas de la época relatan escenas de un colapso total: cadáveres apilados en las calles durante días, a menudo devorados por perros o ratas; monasterios y hospitales desbordados; fosas comunes enormes fuera de las ciudades… Familias enteras morían en cuarentena dentro de sus casas, clausuradas con tablones desde el exterior por las autoridades. El brote se prolongó durante dos largos años.

The virus possesses a biological characteristic that is not found in nature. 2. Data shows that all COVID-19 cases stem from a single introduction into humans. This runs contrary to previous pandemics where there were multiple spillover events. 3. Wuhan is home to China’s foremost SARS research lab, which has a history of conducting gain-of-function research (gene altering and organism supercharging) at inadequate biosafety levels. 4. Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) researchers were sick with COVID-like symptoms in the fall of 2019, months before COVID-19 was discovered at the wet market. 5. By nearly all measures of science, if there was evidence of a natural origin it would have already surfaced. But it hasn’t.
