Violist, knitter, writer, general odd-duck-about-town. AuDHD. Read anything, always have a couple of cats, and if it's about dragons, otters or hedgehogs, I'm interested. Probably really a dragon anyway, given the size of this book collection... (she/her)
Hot damn. Will we FINALLY get some relief??? (Or at least, y'know, be believed about it?)
Medical Republic: 'Fibromyalgia finally gets a genetic fingerprint'

'Additionally, certain risk loci overlapped with long covid (BPTF) and ME/CFS (OLFM4, RABGAP1L/GPR52), two poorly characterised disorders, albeit with different lead variants.'

Swap Irish for Scottish and add yarn, and it's perfect.
All I want is a humble castle on the Irish coast, a crackling fire, a vintage mystery novel, an emotional support raven, a raging thunderstorm, a few purring cats, endless cups of tea, and a scandalous amount of freshly-baked pastries.

Sometimes when people ask me why I’m wearing a mask I say I’m traveling or have some important thing soon and can’t afford to get sick and miss it and that’s pretty much always true but I think it would be nice if it were more normalized to just say “I don’t want to get sick” and leave it at that

Lemme give you an example of why behaving like an event's covid policy magically doesn't apply to you is dogwater behaviour. Not that people who do this care about the fallout, they got what they wanted.

Regardless, let's begin.

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

Have some fuzzy kitty tum, because the world sucks. She's awfully cute though.

I just found out that my high school Latin teacher passed away last week. She was seriously awesome and the news is hitting me harder than I might have expected, especially as she was only 66. So I'm gonna tell my favourite story from the three years I was in her class. 1/11

When everything sucks, there is still a fuzzy tum to rub. My kittygirl is cute as hell.

Dan Quayle told a 12 yo at a spelling bee that he had misspelled the word potato and that the correct spelling was potatoe.

His political career never recovered.

I miss those days when stupidity was a black mark and not a badge of honor.

I had an almost-but-not-quite-asleep semi-hallucination that is my first decent worldbuilding idea in I don't know how long and now I'm trying to come up with a plot to kick off in it and the one that keeps banging to be let out is dystopian and like, NO, brain, we have enough of that already... 😝

Started today with this, two tows and two shops and two tires put me close to meltdown, my 3:00 is ecstatic because she has her first girlfriend, my 5:00 is devastated because her mother has passed away, this day is a mad roller coaster and I'm DONE. If anyone needs me, check the blanket fort. 😵‍💫

My ragtime band played for my ex-bookstore manager's new craft store opening yesterday and they were giving out free kazoos so I snagged two for the neffalumps. The glorious chaos wrought by a 6YO and a 3YO dueling with kazoos made me laugh harder than I have in weeks. (Sister and BiL, less so... 🤣)

Hnnngh. Gorgeous new Austen editions from Folio, costs nearly a thousand £ and oh yeah TARIFFS even if I could afford that right now, which I can't and my Janeite bibliomaniac heart hurts. I'd say "first-world problems" but if you think this is the first world you have a WHOLE lotta thinks coming. 😝

Ooooh, yes yes yes yes DO IT.
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action

In the case of Harry Potter, it’s not like there aren’t other fantasy book series out there, there’s plenty to choose from! If you’re still consuming Harry Potter content in 2025, just admit that you value your nostalgia more than other peoples’ lives.

At least you won’t be a liar.
