Every time I hear someone say organic is a scam...has the USDA devalued the label and do some states rip farmers off for certification? Absolutely. But organic farms aren't exposing anyone, let alone children, to literal poison on a regular basis.

Being a child is thinking Roger Rabbit is fun cartoons/a little nightmare fuel. Being a teen is thinking it's all dirty sex jokes. Being an adult is knowing it's all these things but also an allegory for redlining in minority neighborhoods.
Yup. The streetcar subplot from Who Framed Roger Rabbit is essentially a true story. (I'm sure you know this; posting for others.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General...

There's an exclusive, closed-to-media MAHA summit tomorrow. Here's the full agenda I was leaked

In attendance will be JD Vance, RFK Jr, Bhattacharya, Makary, actor Russell Brand (who is facing rape and sexual assault charges), and dozens of other MAHA influencers and people in Trump's orbit

Multiple outlets up here have reported that, instead of a few hundred actual refugees from Syria, Somalia, etc., Maine will only be receiving 50 white Afrikaners next year. We are not pleased. The affectionate term "new Mainers" will not apply.

A shame it's being tested like this, but a forceful reminder that restoring nature, preserving clean, thriving ecosystems is also ensuring we have something to fall back on during tough times:

The government froze food aid. Tribes are thawing old traditions.
Decades of work to rebuild traditional food systems are paying off, but droughts and funding cuts threaten to unravel the progress.

I'm sure my position isn't popular, but I do think we're going to have to get to a point where we discuss how this kind of fragility was *fostered by* the development-globalization-industrial complex.

"Development" is a form of imperialism that really took off after WW2. That's a long time...
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

Very cool to have this whole fucky insurance bullshit going down at the age of 40, when I need to actually start getting all my bits monitored regularly to make sure they do not betray me. Will my husband's job offer a better insurance option that also allows me to keep my doctor? Who knows!

Defense says that the officer's testimony was "very questionable" because he said the sandwich both exploded in spray of mustard and onions and also landed in its wrapper on the ground.

protect trans kids: it’s the right thing to do and you’re going to win
i genuinely think they believe that the they/them ads won the election and not like, anger over inflation

and so they'll keep trying to double down on social issues
