The Rivercat from parramatta/rydalmere seems like a nice idea on weekends to go into the city or Cockatoo Island but they’re chronically crowded and full of tired kids. We were lucky to get off Cockatoo Island…

After attempting to sort through the terabytes of photos my dad took I have really questioned why we take photos and what becomes of them when we die.
I figure I may as well share them somewhere…here are a few pics of last week in Tasmania

That’s me telling our story for The Kids Cancer Project.
Fred is a 10yr survivor of #medulloblastoma and we have participated in a number of research studies funded by TKCP I hate that we need charities to do this work but am thankful for everything they do youtu.be/HzdRCm9fRgE

Can't hit the repost button often enough on that one.

Great takedown of his _Anxious Generation_ airport book in none other than Nature, BTW:

Banning social media for kids may be good or bad but that guy is a comically obvious bullshit artist with entire books full of trite lessons extrapolated from anecdotes that are themselves barely half-true.

Have convinced our B2B SaaS business that we should walk away from X. Engagement has been in the toilet for the last couple of years and quite frankly the whole space is a toilet. Our business gains nothing from being there.

Trotting out Nova Perris, Dawn Fraser and Grant Hackett etc is not the flex they think it is, despite the media gushing about how important these has beens are.

I feel this so much. I loathe going to the cinema these days for all of these reasons.
cinemas should start doing Quiet Sessions for movies where everyone who buys a ticket agrees we are all going to be polite and act like adults and shut the fuck up and not crinkle chip packets

Let’s not forget you can find literal Nazis freely operating and publishing on Substack…
Crikey Re-read | "I essentially use my Substack as a way to build community at a time when people are really needing community ... there aren’t algorithms dialling up outrage."
Is Substack's ascent in Australia a tipping point for traditional media?
Legacy media outlets are 'too predictable, risk-averse, talking-pointy', says a former ABC radio broadcaster.

I would dearly love a long, extendable stick with a stuffed boxing glove on the end, or a rubber hand that I could use in coffee shops to slap people who insist on amplifying whatever loud crap is on their mobile phones or just yelling their convo on speaker as if we all need to join in too

SLAP!!

Tom Cruise gives me the ick. I could just about tolerate him in Tropic Thunder because his character was was so repugnant
What actor are you so (rationally or not) repulsed by that their work, no matter how good, is unwatchable to you?

One of my utopias is where we all drive EVs and there are no more painfully loud hoons with cars and bikes roaring around. Especially the Harley Davidson types or the cars with the prodigious mufflers.
How peaceful would the world be 😌

I’d been following a local content creator who would post insightful content and built up a nice community. She was interactive and supportive but now every other post is all astrology woo woo and I’m contemplating unfollowing them.

Just a small reminder that Target in Australia is a completely different company that is just licensed to use the logo and name.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

I’m utilising the notify feature in Bluesky so I get notified when George posts. I was sad when I realised I’d miss their posts some days.
🧵Spotted on an Evening River Walk in Aotearoa New Zealand:

Three women (20s-50s?) are leisurely floating in a riverbend water hole.
Hair piled up on their heads.
Hands swooshing idly, keeping them buoyed.
Toes peeking out of the water like little piggy wiggies, curious to see what's going on. (1)

I really wish ABC News would stop presenting horse racing as some kind of news. There is no worthy glamour in it and it isn’t news.

Fun fact to remember is rabbits aren’t even native to England. They were introduced from Europe by their own colonisers.
