Tom Cruise gives me the ick. I could just about tolerate him in Tropic Thunder because his character was was so repugnant
What actor are you so (rationally or not) repulsed by that their work, no matter how good, is unwatchable to you?

Leonardo DiCaprio

One of my utopias is where we all drive EVs and there are no more painfully loud hoons with cars and bikes roaring around. Especially the Harley Davidson types or the cars with the prodigious mufflers.
How peaceful would the world be 😌

I’d been following a local content creator who would post insightful content and built up a nice community. She was interactive and supportive but now every other post is all astrology woo woo and I’m contemplating unfollowing them.

Just a small reminder that Target in Australia is a completely different company that is just licensed to use the logo and name.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

I’m utilising the notify feature in Bluesky so I get notified when George posts. I was sad when I realised I’d miss their posts some days.
🧵Spotted on an Evening River Walk in Aotearoa New Zealand:

Three women (20s-50s?) are leisurely floating in a riverbend water hole.
Hair piled up on their heads.
Hands swooshing idly, keeping them buoyed.
Toes peeking out of the water like little piggy wiggies, curious to see what's going on. (1)

As per my previous post. Not news…
Supporters of the favourite Half Yours are smiling after Saturday's barrier draw, but the forecast for heavy rain in the coming days could reshape the chances of the 24 contenders. Explore our interactive form guide to all the horses set to line up in Tuesday's great race.

I really wish ABC News would stop presenting horse racing as some kind of news. There is no worthy glamour in it and it isn’t news.

Fun fact to remember is rabbits aren’t even native to England. They were introduced from Europe by their own colonisers.

Squee just scored a native beehive from the council today there were 6 hives and 19 people showed up and we were one of the lucky ones.
Now just have to keep it cool in over 39c weather

My colleague is 37, and 31 weeks pregnant with twins. Just diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Starting bub safe chemo now before getting the bubs out in a few weeks. But obviously devastating news.
I’ve family exp with brain cancer but not much around breast cancer. Any advice or tips?

I rarely share but this result felt worthy of putting out there. I usually mix my starter word from a few options. Clearly picked the right starter today.

I still use a feed reader but it is a shadow of what it once was. Yet I persist.
it's 2007. you're scrolling your favorite rss feeds in google reader. the internet ad market has led to a boom in mid-sized blogs that can employ tens of writers and editors in a relatively niche subject. you don't know it, but this is the last time journalism will be any good.

I would rather answer the call than deal with voicemail and calling back. Also as the parent of a chronically ill kiddo all the hospital calls are from unknown numbers so can’t miss those. So yeah I answer all the calls
my most unpopular opinion is that it's a sign of defective moral character if you point blank refuse to answer phone calls from unknown numbers. it's not that hard to hang up on spam/scammers, and you are probably missing important calls!

Little known fact, but all phones have a little speaker at the top that you can hold to your ear. It means you can have a private conversation without the whole world listening to it

Ours was a Commodore Vic20. We used to get programming books from the Scholastics Book Club and retype the Basic code for games etc. but if you had one typo it was screwed and you had to debug…
What was y'all's first computer? I'm curious what the spread might be like.

Bonus points for sharing some anecdotal memories of your experience with it. 💜

Mine was a Commodore C64C, which I managed to semi-fry one day by knocking a pound coin off an overhead shelf down into a vent. 🫠

My boss is one of these middle aged white guys blathering about AI as the solution to problems that it can’t solve 🤦🏼‍♀️
We’re just a few days into the Katrina 20 panels, and I am already seeing an echo of a thing I have noticed at conferences this year, so… who is paying the middle aged white guy on each panel to talk about AI as a solution to random ass things that have no AI applicability whatsoever?!
